Public Hearing on Proposed “LGBT Propaganda” Amendments
The Human Rights LGBTQIA+ initiative REQUEST is organizing open public hearings to discuss amendments to the draft law “On Archival Affairs”, particularly the proposed introduction of a ban on the so-called “propaganda of non-traditional sexual orientation,” as well as related amendments that seek to introduce similar provisions into several other laws.
These amendments may create significant risks for freedom of expression, culture, education, media, and the rights of LGBTQIA+ people in Kazakhstan. It is important for us to gather the perspectives of the community, experts, and stakeholders.
