REQUEST Begins Advocacy Against “LGBT Propaganda” Amendments
Since yesterday, we have been working intensively to respond to the proposed amendments introducing a “ban on LGBT propaganda.” We have already begun informing the diplomatic corps, as well as international and intergovernmental organizations about the situation.
At the same time, we are preparing expert and public events, conducting a legal analysis of the proposed amendments, and developing a series of legal actions in relation to state authorities. In parallel, we are holding meetings with partner organizations and sharing public updates whenever possible.
We have already voiced our criticism during the working group meeting of the Mazhilis of Parliament, submitted a communication to the UN Special Procedures, and reached out to international financial institutions, including the SOGI Advisory Group at the World Bank. Through partner organizations, we are also informing the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) about the developments.
