This year, a petition calling for a ban on so-called “LGBT propaganda” in Kazakhstan was reviewed, sparking significant public debate. Thanks to the collective efforts of activists and human rights defenders, the petition was only partially approved, which we consider an important achievement. What does “partial approval” actually mean? What implications does it have for the future of the LGBTQIA+ community in the country? Should we be concerned?
