Campaign Continues as Draft “LGBT Propaganda” Amendments Move to the Senate
Today, November 12, 2025, the Mazhilis of the Parliament of Kazakhstan adopted amendments introducing administrative liability for the so-called “propaganda of non-traditional sexual relations”.
📢 Attention: the campaign continues.
The draft law has now been forwarded to the Senate, where the next stage of the legislative process will determine whether the amendments are ultimately approved and sent to the President for signature.
🚨 This is a critical moment.
If the Senate and the President approve the amendments, the law could enter into force in January 2026, creating legal grounds for censorship and establishing a dangerous precedent affecting fundamental freedoms in Kazakhstan.
🛑 What can be done now
- Send appeals to the Senate of Kazakhstan calling for the rejection of the law, and to the Presidential Administration urging the President to veto the amendments. The same approach used in the “Wave of Letters for Freedom” campaign can be applied.
- Continue sharing information, using campaign hashtags, and supporting the advocacy efforts of REQUEST.
We must not allow this law to enter into force.
This is a moment for solidarity, determination, and action.
