🌈 REQUEST at the Central Asian LGBT+ Platform 🌈

From August 21 to 24, 2024, the Central Asian LGBT+ Platform took place in Almaty, and we are proud that REQUEST actively participated in this important regional event.

The aim of the Platform was to create a space for activists and human rights defenders from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan to discuss pressing issues, exchange experiences, and identify joint solutions to improve the quality of life for LGBTQIA+ people across the region.

The Platform brought together more than 120 activists and human rights defenders working to advance LGBTQIA+ rights and build safer environments for the community.

🔹 Rustam Zhantasov facilitated the workshop “Human Rights and LGBTQIA+”, where he shared key mechanisms for the protection of human rights and discussed the importance of advancing LGBTQIA+ rights in the region.

🔹 Arsen Aubakirov led the workshop “LGBTQIA+ Digital Rights in the Context of Regulation and Content Censorship in Central Asian Countries.” The topic is particularly relevant in light of the growing challenges faced by LGBTQIA+ communities in the region.

We recognize that LGBTQIA+ communities continue to face serious challenges. This is why it is essential to unite efforts in order to build safe and supportive environments for everyone.
